Since its inception, the Festival has introduced audiences to numerous international soloists and ensembles, such as Jérémy Jouve, Gaëlle Solal, Samuelito, Orestis Kalampalikis and the Quatuor Éclisses. It has also supported and showcased young guitarists who are now performing on the international stage, including Cassie Martin, Edith Pageaud, Paolo Besson, Vera Danilina, Antoine Guerrero, Guadalupe Martín Pino and Sotiris Athanasiou.

A workshop, open to both high-level amateurs and professionals, rounds off the concert programme.

The Festival is co-organised by the associations Roland Dyens in the Skaï and La Locomotive des Arts, which pool their artistic and organisational expertise to create an inclusive event open to all.

The Concerto en SI, composed in 1991 by Roland Dyens and published by Edition Henry Lemoine, will be performed by soloist Tania Chagnot, accompanied by a guitar ensemble comprising Jérémy Jouve‘s students at the Paris Regional Conservatoire – Ida Rubinstein, and at the Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, as well as students of Tania Chagnot from the Pôle sup 93, the Aubervilliers Regional Conservatoire (CRR) and the Conservatoire de L’Haÿ-les-Roses, and students of Benjamin Valette from the Rueil-Malmaison Regional Conservatoire (CRR).

Tania Chagnot began learning the guitar at the age of 8 with Maurice Rosset, at the Ecole Nationale de Musique in Fresnes. In 1979, she completed her studies at the conservatoire, winning a gold medal and a prize for excellence awarded unanimously with the jury’s congratulations. She then continued her training at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in Alberto Ponce’s class, where in 1984 she was unanimously awarded the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste with honours.
Between 1981 and 1985, she won several international guitar competitions (Carpentras, Sassari, Rome, Toronto, Benicassim), becoming, in 1985, the first French guitarist to win the Paris-Radio France International Competition.

Her career as a concert performer has taken her to Europe, the United States, Central and South America, Japan, Africa and the Middle East, and she has also appeared on various radio and television programmes. Committed to contemporary music, she has premiered several works (by Felipe Pires and Williams Montesinos) whilst exploring a wide-ranging repertoire, as evidenced by her discography (La Guitare au XXème siècle, La Guitaromanie, Oceanonox, Los Cuatro Elementos…).

A recognised teacher (State Diploma in 1993, Certificate of Competence in 1995), she has been teaching since 1984 at the Conservatoire du Val de Bièvre in l’Haÿ-les-Roses, and joined Pôle Sup’93 and the Conservatoire d’Aubervilliers in 2017, having previously taught at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris (2012-2017). Trio Ao Vivo

Brazilian Popular Music

Roland Dyens had always had a great love for Latin American music, and in particular for Brazilian music, which, as he used to say, ran through his veins.

During his early concerts between 1977 and 1981, he performed a first set as a soloist and a second set devoted to Brazilian music with his musicians Yannick Le Goff (flute), Jean-Luc Ceddaha and Paul Mindy (percussion), Michel Terrioux (vibraphone) and Jean-Christophe Hoareau (double bass and percussion).

Today, to mark the concerts paying tribute to the 10th anniversary of his death, a trio is reuniting, featuring Orestis Kalampalikis – a former student of Roland Dyens at the CNSMDP – alongside Yannick Le Goff, the flautist, and Paul Mindy, the percussionist, both of whom were members of Roland Dyens’s ‘legendary’ ensemble.

This trio, named Ao Vivo, in homage to Roland Dyens’ trio CD, performs Roland Dyens’ compositions and arrangements of Brazilian and Latin American folk music.

Part One : Austin Tango by Roland Dyens

Participants in the Roland Dyens in the Skaï guitar workshop, led by Jérémy Jouve and Orestis Kalampalikis, will perform Austin Tango, a composition for guitar ensemble by Roland Dyens, under his direction.

Premiered on 25 April 2009 at the Northwest Hills United Church in Austin (Texas), the piece was performed by 100 guitarists under the direction of Michel Quantz, in the presence of the composer.

It was then performed on 11 June 2009 at George Mason University under the direction of Roland Dyens.

Austin Tango was performed again in 2010 at the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) with the participation of 200 young guitarists under the direction of Michael Quantz.
